Wow. UC Farm Advisers Recommend Winter Irrigation

I guess we wished to hard for the rain to stop back in October.  After over 5 inches of rain early that month we have received less than one inch in total since.

Our local UC Farm Adviser, Lynn Wunderlich, writes that this dormant drought can cause "poor and irregular shoot growth, drought induced nutritional deficiencies such as Boron, and even flower primordial abortion can occur in drought stressed vines."  This is totally new to me.  I just learned how too much rain can ruin grapes on the vine first hand.  I'm tired of lessons...
